How is the live estimate calculated?
Official Census monthly population anchors are discrete estimates. This page fills the time between adjacent anchors with a straight-line interpolation and rounds the result to a whole person.
Why can it differ from the Census Population Clock?
This page uses only the checked-in Vintage 2025 monthly anchors and a simple interpolation. The Population Clock may use a different model or newer information.
Important interpretation
Births, deaths, and migration do not occur at a perfectly constant rate. “Next modeled person” describes the interpolation crossing another whole number, not an observed individual event. New Census vintages can revise historical estimates.
Privacy and availability
No user input, location, API key, Census iframe, or runtime third-party request is used. The model freezes at the last supported anchor rather than extrapolating indefinitely.
