How does the school countdown work?
The calculator counts calendar days from the selected Count from date to the first day of school. The starting date is Day 0: August 1 to August 2 is one day. It also breaks the same interval into full weeks plus extra days, weekdays, and weekend days.
Are these calendar days or school days?
The main countdown uses calendar days, including weekdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The weekday result simply identifies Monday through Friday; it is not a count of instructional school days. District holidays, teacher workdays, local closures, and vacation schedules are not removed.

From Friday, August 21 to Monday, August 24, 2026 is 3 days. The counted dates are Saturday, Sunday, and Monday: 2 weekend days and 1 weekday.

If Count from and the first day of school are both August 24, 2026, the countdown is zero and the result says School starts today.
School has already started
If Count from is August 29 and school started August 24, 2026, the result shows that school started 5 days ago instead of displaying a negative countdown.
Crossing a year boundary
December 20, 2026 to Monday, January 4, 2027 is 15 calendar days.
Crossing leap day
February 20 to March 1, 2024 is 10 calendar days. February 29 is included because 2024 is a leap year.
