Counting convention

This calculator uses standard date addition. The start date is Day 0, so 1 day after January 1 is January 2. Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays all count.

If a contract, law, policy, or deadline says the starting date counts as Day 1, its convention may differ. Verify governing rules where consequences matter.

How to calculate a date after N days

Result date = Start date + Number of calendar days. Standard calendar arithmetic automatically handles different month lengths, leap years, month changes, and year boundaries. It does not assume that every month has 30 days.

How the start date is counted

The start date is Day 0. Adding zero days leaves it unchanged, while adding one day moves to the next calendar date. For example, January 1 plus one day is January 2. Some policies or legal rules use different counting conventions; verify those rules when they matter.

Are weekends included?

Yes. This calculator adds calendar days, so Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays count. It does not identify public holidays or skip non-working days. For another counting method, use the related Business Days Between Dates Calculator or Workdays Left Until a Date Calculator.

30 days is not one calendar month

Adding a fixed number of days and adding a calendar month are different operations. January 1 plus 30 days is January 31, while January 1 plus one calendar month is February 1. January 31, 2026 plus 30 days is March 2, 2026. This tool performs day addition only.

Worked examples

30 days after January 1

January 1, 2026 + 30 calendar days = Saturday, January 31, 2026. The interval is 4 weeks + 2 days.

One day after February 28 in a leap year

February 28, 2024 + 1 day = Thursday, February 29, 2024.

Crossing leap day

February 28, 2024 + 2 days = Friday, March 1, 2024.

Year rollover

December 31, 2026 + 1 day = Friday, January 1, 2027.

100 days after July 30

July 30, 2026 + 100 days = Saturday, November 7, 2026. The interval is 14 weeks + 2 days.

Adding zero days

July 30, 2026 + 0 days = Thursday, July 30, 2026. Adding zero days leaves the date unchanged.

Frequently asked questions
