What this business-days calculator tells you
Count selected workweek dates across any supported calendar range. Control both boundaries, choose any combination of business weekdays, enter manual exclusions, and review total, weekday, and monthly results.
How business days are counted
The calculator first applies the start- and end-date inclusion settings. A remaining date counts only when its weekday is selected and its unique date is not in the exclusion list. UTC date-only arithmetic prevents daylight-saving transitions from shifting calendar dates.
Start-date and end-date inclusion
The raw span always runs from start through end. By default, the start is excluded and the end is included. In a same-day range, that one date is considered only when both boundary settings permit it; it is never counted twice.
Custom workweeks and weekday totals
Monday through Friday is only the default. You can select a Monday-through-Thursday schedule, include weekends, or use another combination. Approximate business weeks divide counted days by the number of selected weekdays in a full week, not by elapsed calendar weeks.
Manual holidays and excluded dates
No public, bank, company, regional, or school holidays are loaded automatically. Enter strict YYYY-MM-DD dates manually. Repeated dates are deduplicated. An exclusion on an unselected weekday does not reduce scheduled business weekdays.
Worked examples
July 29 through August 31, 2026
With Monday–Friday selected, the start excluded, and the end included, 33 of the raw 34 calendar dates are considered. July 30–31 contribute two business days and August contributes 21, for 23 total. The first is July 30 and the final is August 31.
Two weekday exclusions
Excluding August 14 and August 17 from that range removes two of the 23 scheduled weekdays, leaving 21 business days: two in July and 19 in August.
Weekend-spanning range
August 1–9, 2026 with both boundaries included contains five Monday–Friday business days: August 3–7. Excluding August 5 leaves four; excluding Saturday, August 8 leaves the business-day count at five.
Custom Monday-through-Thursday workweek
From July 29 through August 4 with the start excluded and end included, the counted dates are July 30, August 3, and August 4—three business days.
Same-day range
Monday, August 3, 2026 counts once when both boundaries are included. Turning either boundary off excludes that single date and produces zero business days.

How do I count business days between two dates?

Is the start date included?
Only when “Include the start date” is checked and the date also passes the weekday and exclusion rules.
Is the end date included?

Duplicates are deduplicated and affect the result at most once.
