Counting convention

The start date is included. The cancellation date is included only when the checkbox is enabled. Price and additional amount apply to every counted billing date; the cancellation fee applies once. Refunds, prorating, trials, and provider-specific adjustments are not assumed.

What this subscription cancellation-cost calculator tells you

Estimate how many scheduled payments remain before cancellation, their recurring subtotals, any fixed cancellation fee, and the total future cost. The schedule also identifies the first billing date that falls outside the selected cutoff.

How recurring charges are counted

Only scheduled billing dates on or after the calculation start are considered. The cancellation date is included when its checkbox is enabled and excluded otherwise. Price and the optional additional amount apply to every counted occurrence.

How monthly and annual billing dates are generated

Calendar-based schedules preserve the anchor’s intended day. A January 31 subscription uses the last day of February, returns to March 31, and uses April 30. A February 29 yearly subscription uses February 28 in non-leap years and returns to February 29 in later leap years.

What happens when cancellation falls on a billing date

When inclusion is enabled, that scheduled payment counts and the following occurrence is first outside the range. When disabled, the billing date equal to cancellation is treated as the first potentially avoided charge. Providers may require cancellation before a particular cutoff time, so verify their policy.

Additional fees and cancellation fees

The additional-amount field is a fixed amount added to every payment; it is not a location-based tax calculator. The cancellation fee is added once and is kept separate from recurring monthly or yearly breakdowns.

Worked example

From July 29 through December 31, 2026, with monthly billing anchored to August 5, a $19.99 price, and $1.50 additional amount, five charges occur: August 5 through December 5. Subscription cost is $99.95, additional fees are $7.50, and total future cost is $107.45. The first subsequent scheduled charge is January 5, 2027.

Frequently asked questions

Is a charge on the calculation start date counted?

Yes, when that date is a scheduled billing occurrence.

Is a charge on the cancellation date counted?

Only when the cancellation-date checkbox is enabled.

Can my known billing date be before the start date?

Yes. It can be before, inside, or after the range and is used as the recurrence anchor.

How are January 31 monthly subscriptions handled?

Shorter months use their final day while preserving 31 as the intended day for later months.

How is a February 29 annual subscription handled?

Non-leap years use February 28, and later leap years return to February 29.

Does the calculator include refunds or prorated charges?

No. Refunds, prorating, already-paid service periods, and service-specific adjustments are not modeled.

Does it know my provider’s cancellation policy?

No. Many providers require cancellation before a cutoff or keep service active through an already-paid period. Verify the provider’s rules.

Can I include taxes or service fees?

You can enter one fixed additional amount per payment. It does not automatically calculate taxes by location.

What if no billing date occurs before cancellation?

The result shows zero recurring charges while still displaying any cancellation fee, total cost, period, and next scheduled occurrence.

Does the calculator account for a free trial?

No. Trials, introductory pricing, price increases, refunds, and prorating must be evaluated separately.

Can I use a different currency?

Yes. Select a supported currency; amounts use its normal fraction digits.

Is this financial advice?

No. This is a planning estimate. It excludes exchange-rate changes, payment-card fees, provider policies, and other unentered costs.
