Participant group contribution
Estimated meeting cost based on entered hourly costs and included elapsed time. Cost alone does not measure whether a meeting is useful.
How is meeting cost calculated?
Combined hourly cost = sum of participant hourly costs. Meeting cost equals combined hourly cost multiplied by included meeting seconds divided by 3,600. Eight people at $48 per hour create a $384 hourly rate and an estimated $192 cost after 30 included minutes.
How much does a meeting cost per second?
Divide combined hourly cost by 3,600. A $384-per-hour meeting is about $0.106667 per second. The live display recalculates from timestamps rather than adding a fixed amount every refresh.
Should I use hourly pay or loaded hourly cost?
Use the hourly basis appropriate for your analysis. A loaded cost may include organization-supplied benefits or overhead, but this calculator does not estimate those additions or recommend a universal multiplier.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate meeting cost?
Add every participant's hourly cost and multiply by included meeting time.
Can participants have different costs?
Yes. Participant groups support separate counts and hourly costs.
Can I pause the timer?
Yes. Paused time is excluded from the estimate.
Does this include taxes and benefits?
Only if they are already included in the hourly amount entered.
Does this prove a meeting is too expensive?
No. Monetary time cost does not measure usefulness, avoided errors, or decision value.
