Supported lunar calendar and years
This converter supports traditional Chinese lunar years 1900 through 2100, matching the explicit supported domain used by the site's lunar-date tools. It does not claim support for Korean Dangi, Vietnamese, or every other regional calendar called lunar.
What is a leap lunar month?
Some lunar years contain an additional month to keep the lunar calendar aligned with the seasonal cycle. The regular month and leap month with the same number are distinct dates. Selecting a leap month where none exists produces a validation error rather than silently using the regular month.
Lunar and Gregorian year boundaries
A lunar year does not begin on January 1 of the Gregorian calendar. One lunar year therefore overlaps parts of two Gregorian years, and the Gregorian year cannot be inferred from the lunar year alone.
