How much does it cost to charge a Tesla Model 3?
Battery energy added = Usable capacity × (Target percentage − Starting percentage). Wall electricity equals battery energy added divided by charging efficiency. Charging cost equals wall electricity multiplied by the entered price per kWh.
Why 20% to 80% adds 60%
A 20% to 80% session adds 60 percentage points, not 80% of the battery. For a 60 kWh usable battery, 60 × 0.60 equals 36 kWh added. At 90% efficiency, the estimated wall electricity is 40 kWh.
Which Model 3 battery capacity should I use?
Select the generation and trim that most closely matches the vehicle. The calculator fills an estimated usable capacity automatically. Model 3 packs can vary by market, factory, supplier, production date, and revision, so the value remains editable.
Usable capacity is the battery energy used for the displayed charge-percentage estimate. Published gross or nominal pack capacity may be higher.
Model 3 charging examples
Newer 60 kWh RWD
Charging from 20% to 80% adds 36 kWh and draws an estimated 40 kWh at 90% efficiency. At $0.16/kWh, the cost is $6.40.
Earlier 57 kWh RWD
The same window adds 34.2 kWh and draws 38 kWh. At $0.16/kWh, the cost is $6.08.
Newer 79 kWh Long Range / Premium
A 20% to 80% session adds 47.4 kWh and draws approximately 52.667 kWh. At $0.16/kWh, the cost is approximately $8.43.

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to charge a Tesla Model 3 from 20% to 80%?
Select the closest Model 3 version and enter the electricity rate. The calculator applies the 60-percentage-point charge to the preset usable battery capacity.
Do I need to know my Model 3 battery size?
Usually not. Selecting a generation and trim fills a usable-capacity preset automatically.
What battery size does a Tesla Model 3 have?
It varies by version and production period. This tool includes separate RWD, Long Range / Premium, and Performance estimates.
Why can I edit the capacity?
Battery packs can differ by production date, factory, supplier, and market.
Why is wall electricity higher than battery energy?
Charging losses mean more energy may be drawn from the charger than reaches the battery.
Does this use current Supercharger prices?
No. Enter the actual price you want to calculate or compare; no live rates are fetched.
