How are Etsy fees calculated?
The built-in U.S. preset applies a 6.5% transaction fee to the item price plus shipping and gift wrap charged to the buyer. Etsy Payments processing is estimated as 3% of that revenue plus entered sales tax, then $0.25 per order. One $0.20 listing or renewal fee is allocated by default and remains editable.
How is Etsy profit calculated?
Estimated profit = order revenue − Etsy fees − seller costs. Order revenue is the item price plus shipping and gift wrap charged to the buyer. Seller costs can include materials, postage, packaging, other order costs, and user-entered advertising cost.
Profit margin divides estimated profit by order revenue. Etsy fees as a percentage of revenue is a separate calculation; neither percentage is rated as good or bad.
How much does Etsy Offsite Ads take?
For an attributed order, select the applicable 15% or reduced 12% rate. The calculator applies the selected percentage to item price, buyer-paid shipping, and gift wrap, with the current modeled $100 cap per attributed order. Etsy controls eligibility and participation rules; the calculator does not decide which rate applies.
Why include a $0.20 listing fee?
Etsy currently charges $0.20 when a listing is created or renewed. Because listing, renewal, and multi-quantity timing can vary, this calculator allocates one $0.20 charge by default and lets you edit it for the order being modeled.
Why can sales tax change the processing fee?
For U.S. Etsy Payments, processing is assessed on the gross payment amount, which can include applicable sales tax. Entered sales tax affects only the processing-fee estimate here; it is not added to seller revenue, the transaction-fee base, or the Offsite Ads base.
